Variety Description:

Egan is a hard red spring wheat with resistance to the orange wheat blossom midge (OWBM). Egan has shown good yield potential in northwestern Montana, and has relatively high grain protein content and resistance to stripe rust. Egan should be grown in a blend with a OWBM-susceptible variety (90% Egan – 10% susceptible) to lessen the possibility that the OWBM will overcome the resistance.
